Going Big and Foam Free with British Flowers

175.00

Urns, pedestals and large scale arrangements can often seem like a daunting task when you are arranging flowers. In fact, it is one of my favourite creations to make when designing for weddings and events; a chance to big and bold and make a floral statement.

Join me for a full day masterclass, devoted entirely to creating large scale arrangements; using the finest British grown ingredients and not a piece of floral foam in sight. At Thomas Bloom, we are dedicated to working with seasonal materials; sourced from our network of local growers and cutting gardens. We also abstain from using any chemicals or floral foam in any of our work, preferring to work with traditional and natural mechanics.

The course will take place at Thomas’ garden studio on Wednesday 20th June, commencing at 10am with refreshments. Thomas will then demonstrate how to create an urn arrangement from scratch, using traditional mechanics with British grown flowers and foliage. Thomas will introduce you to his garden gathered style and how to incorporate form, line, texture and proportion into a large scale floral arrangement. You will also learn about using a range of mechanics and techniques to enable you to step away from the use of floral foam.

After lunch, the afternoon will be devoted to your creativity under the guidance of Thomas. Each participant will create a large floral arrangement, using the finest flowers June has to offer. These will include British grown Roses, Delphiniums, Digitalis and colourful garden perennials. A photographic station will be set up, where you will have the opportunity to document your work for your portfolio.

The day will close at 4:30pm with refreshments and Q&A

Price includes refreshments, lunch and all flowers (which you can take away with you). Scissors and cutting tools will be available for each participant to use. (which you can take away with you). The perfect way to celebrate British Flowers Week.
