Floating Flowers - A Project for the Weekend.......

Floating flowers are one of the most enjoyable floral displays to create. It is like something from a Botticelli painting, evoking mysticism and romance. I have recently incorporated them into a lot of floral events and plan to use this creative tool in the future. It is the perfect way to display your blooms from the garden in a different way and if you are partial to a bit of entertaining, it can make quite a show stopper.

When we had a house in Devon, we used to entertain a lot and we used to love to fill our garden pond with rose petals and floating candles and intersperse them amongst the Waterlilies. I miss that pond terribly......

There are certain flowers that I prefer to use for floating. Even the teeniest blooms can look so delightful floated in finger bowls. My top ten are as follows:

ZINNIA , COSMOS, ROSES, PEONIES, SWEET PEAS, HELLEBORES, NIGELLA, SCABIOUS DAHLIA

The weather has been grim today, so I decided to fill a bowl with Roses and Sweet Peas, for enjoyment over the weekend. So why not do the same........... it's terribly simple. Take one large bowl, I used a vintage washing bowl. Fill with water. Step into the garden with your trug and select some of your favourite flowers et voila........

Set it on a sideboard, at your feet, or on a garden table and enjoy.........
